STARFLEET, The International Fan Association, Inc

Star Trek has always been a large part of my life. I watched it on TV (right from when I was a little girl), and believe in its ideals.

I am a member of STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc., which states:

We are people of all ages and from all walks of life, who enjoy Sci Fi in all its forms — the major motion pictures, the television series, and the numerous books and magazines.

Our Prime Directive is to make new friends, share our interest in Star Trek in an open environment, to serve our community, and most of all: to have fun.

Each club member brings his or her special abilities to the group. We recognize this value by assigning fictional ranks and positions within the Fleet, reflecting the interests of the members. In addition, participation allows the individual to advance in fictional rank. [sfi.org, 2009]

STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc also keeps abreast of current scientific projects and shares its knowledge through programs in the community. It is also interested in education of all kinds, plus creative writing, art, model building, and craft events.

SFI values physical activity for fun, challenging other ships and conducting fun athletic events.

SFI ships go on Away Missions to visit other Star Trek clubs, conventions, and theme parks. The Fleet is like an extended family. SFI feels that 'the closer we get to know one another, the more respect we have for the diversity we shall see.' [sfi.org, 2006]
